Newcastle United's Greatest Foreign XI

6. Right Wing: Nolberto Solano (Peru)

How could you not pick Nobby? The man is a legend. The first Peruvian to play in England, on his day (which, admittedly, didn€™t always happen to coincide with a match day), Nobby was one of the best wingers to pull on the famous black and white stripes, and he popped up with more than his fair share of goals as well, which is a massive bonus. But, again, actually being a decent player isn€™t enough for this list, so what else does Nobby have in his locker? So much that it€™s untrue. Not only did he play trumpet in a local salsa band called €˜Geordie Latinos€™ (that fact alone is enough to get him on this team sheet), he also allegedly used to play pranks on Sir Bobby Robson by phoning him in the middle of the night and blowing said trumpet down the line (that fact alone is enough to get him the captain€™s armband). Despite being a national treasure in his native Peru, Nobby has also declared Geordie citizenship for himself. Legend.
