OK, it might be bending the rules just a little bit to let Gary in this team, but technically, Wales is a separate country, and so technically, Speed counts as a foreign national (doesnt he?). Anyway, there isnt a Geordie who wouldnt bend the rules a little to get Speed on the team. One of the true greats of the game, that he only donned the Toons colours towards the twilight of his long and illustrious career is the only disappointment. Reliable, intelligent, impenetrable in defensive midfield an area not traditionally associated with the Toon Speed was solid, but he could also pop up with a screamer or two as well. The remembrance of Speeds untimely death at St. James Park was one of the most emotional events the Toon has ever seen, and showed the true positivity of being a football fan. Well loved, always remembered, a true legend, and a solid midfielder. Whats not to pick?
