10 Actors Who Got Kicked Out Of Their Own TV Shows
4. Roseanne Barr - Roseanne/The Conners
Much like Valerie Harper found out many moons ago, Roseanne Barr also learnt the hard way in 2018 that having your name in a TV show's title doesn't guarantee you a job for life.
From 1988-1997, Barr starred alongside John Goodman and a host of other talented folk in nine seasons of ABC's hit sitcom Roseanne. Then, just over twenty years on from its final episode, the cast returned for a tenth season in 2018, with the intention of continuing on for an eleventh after the initial success of the revival.
However, those plans soon hit the rocks when Barr posted a racist tweet aimed at Valerie Jarrett, an African American woman who acted as a senior adviser to Barack Obama during his tenure as President of the United States. Quickly opting to cut all ties with Barr, ABC announced the immediate cancellation of Roseanne.
Yet, the show would eventually go on without her, with ABC announcing plans for a spin-off focusing on the rest of the Conner family, minus Roseanne. The Conners has aired for three successful seasons already, with the latest episode airing at the beginning of February this year.
