Abed Nadir from Community is one of the nicest characters on TV. A beacon of morality in his disreputable friendship group, Abed is fuelled by a desire to make friends, have fun, and talk about movies and TV shows.

One TV show Abed loves to talk about is Cougar Town, the Courtney Cox-fronted sitcom about a woman in her forties dealing with divorce. While often the subject of ridicule, Abed's love for the show pays off when he gets invited to appear as an extra.

In real life, Abed's actor, Danny Pudi, actually made a cameo in the Season 2 finale of Cougar Town. He can be seen in the background of a conversation between characters Laurie and Dan, before he awkwardly runs away after becoming too involved in their chat.

There's a lot to unpack here. Firstly, Abed got the offer to appear on the show, in another show. Secondly, this means that it's not Danny Pudi in Cougar Town, it's Abed Nadir. And thirdly, by including this cameo, Cougar Town is admitting that it's a TV show in the universe of another TV show.
