When it comes to American cop shows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine sits on the charming and light-hearted end of the spectrum. In both its tone and appeal this is a show which feels akin to Parks And Recreation, which is to say that it's a thoroughly amiable ensemble comedy series. Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher and Melissa Fumero head the cast of oddball police officers working out of Brooklyn's 99th precinct, with much of the amusement stemming from the frequent clashes between Samberg's carefree Detective Jake Peralta and Braugher's uptight Captain Holt. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's genial mood is as infectious as the peppy, hyperactive characters, with Terry Crews particularly funny playing with his machismo persona.
