10 Amazing TV Comedies On Netflix You Need To Binge-Watch

8. I'm Alan Partridge

When it came to transitioning from television to Hollywood, Steve Coogan enjoyed the limited fortunes of his comedic predecessors - like Dudley Moore, Eddie Izzard and many others, Coogan found moderate success and a lukewarm reception for many of his attempts at mainstream comedy instead of rapturous applause and a string of awards. None of which really matters (or at least, it shouldn't) when you're the comedian responsible for one of the most recognisable characters in British television history, which can certainly be said of Alan Partridge, Coogan's Jeremy Clarkson-loving, socially inept former TV presenter/local radio host. Beginning with his disastrous TV chat show Knowing Me Knowing You and moving on to the sitcom I'm Alan Partridge, Netflix doesn't have all the Partridge there is to see but certainly delivers when it comes to quality. From his cry of "Smell my cheese, you mother!" after being rejected by the BBC's head of programming to asking "what do you think of the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre?" during sex (to "keep the wolves from the door") the list of quotable moments from Alan Partridge is endless. Making it even more rewarding over repeated viewings is the subtlety of Coogan's performances - few actors have got a character down to such a degree of perfection.
