10 Amazing TV Shows You'll Probably Never Watch Again

7. Chernobyl

Chernobyl is arguably one of the greatest TV shows ever made. An exquisite, terrifying, thought-provoking, and unbearably haunting account of one of the worst man-made disasters ever, Chernobyl is a practically perfect piece of drama, the kind of thing so good that it puts 99% of all other prestige TV to shame. It is also pure, unadulterated nightmare fuel.

Everything about this show - the overwhelming sense of dread, the gruesome details of radiation poisoning, all of the tragic deaths, and the terrifying consequences of industrial mismanagement and corruption - is unflinchingly disturbing. It's all some of the most haunting television there will ever be, especially because it shows just how easily the Chernobyl Disaster could've turned Europe into an uninhabitable nuclear wasteland.

The five-episode miniseries concludes with a five-minute epilogue explaining the aftermath of the disaster, accompanied by composer Hildur Guonadottir's hauntingly beautiful score. Of course, such epilogues are a common staple in based-on-true-story films and dramas, yet it's difficult to think of another one that hits as devastatingly hard.

Because of how outstanding Chernobyl is, it's one of those pieces of drama that will leave viewers feeling alive, but nevertheless, it's an undeniably tough watch that's scarier than most horror TV shows could ever dream of being. It's the kind of thing people will feel privileged to see but won't necessarily want to put themselves through a second time.
