10 Awesome TV Shows Cancelled Before Their Time

7. Pushing Daisies

Pushing Daisies Bryan Fuller returns for another show about the taboo that is death, this time on a substantially higher budget, allowing him to create a visually stunning, dreamlike world that has been frequently compared to the gothic style of Tim Burton (but with brighter colours). Lee Pace plays Ned, a pie-maker with the ability to bring dead things back to life with one touch, though the catch is that if he touches the thing again, it will be permanently dead. This creates plenty of brilliant tension in a show that didn't want for imagination; the performances from leads Pace and Anna Friel really pushed this one forward, and the immaculate style made it one of the best looking TV shows out there. One of the many casualties in the infamous writers' strike, the show only got to have 9 episodes in its first season, and in season two the network saw quickly dwindling ratings. Given the high cost of the show, they decided to cancel it rather than give things a chance to level off post-strike.
