10 Awful Seasons That Killed Great TV Shows
4. Lost – Season 3
You know a show is going poorly if it needs to be recalled after six episodes.
Lost was a rampant success in the beginning, focusing around a cast of plane crash survivors stranded on a mysterious island. Fan theories circulated as people had insane levels of investment in discovering the secrets buries within the island. Entire websites were being created to get to the bottom of what was happening and decipher the mythology of the time shifting location that the characters were stranded on.
Although Lost was characterised by its use of flackbacks, season three beat the technique to death, oft at unnecessary and pointless times. The show received a lot of backlash and even took a three month break after episode six to rework the remaining episodes. While this didn’t kill the show dead, it set Lost viewers up for disappointment - although nobody could have expected the sheer awfulness of the final ever episode.
