10 Awful TV Finales Breaking Bad Must Vanquish

3. Quantum Leap

Quantum Leap First Episode: March 26th, 1989 Final Episode: May 4th, 1993 Quantum Leap€™s finale is a bit of an oddball on this list, since it is the only show that concludes prior to the year 2000, as well as being far more episodic than any of the others. Though so different in those senses, Quantum Leap earns its place here, due to the finale€™s power. Sam spends the bulk of his time sitting in a 1950s tavern, where he actually sees his reflection in the mirror (as opposed the strangers he occupies over the course of the show). There€™s not very much action. Instead, what really engages you in this pensive finale is its lack of interest in explaining the show€™s mysterious premise. It€™s not about €œwhy,€ it€™s about Sam himself. Will he decide to finally go home, or will he continue fixing the world through time-travel-possession? Unquestionably, our hero is a different man now than he was at the start of his journey. This is crucial for a great finale. No one expects Breaking Bad€™s conclusion to be as slow-paced or life-affirming as the Quantum Leap finale, but Gilligan and friends would do well to remember how effective those still, contemplative moments are. As important as what happens to ABQ, what happens inside Walter trumps it. Hopefully he, and the viewer, will get time to quietly reflect either before or after he starts mowing people down with that M-60 .
