4. Winona Helps Gun Down Her Captors €“ Justified

Justified is chock-full of badassery, but Winona Hawkins probably isn't the first character you associate with the trait; this is, after all, a character who spontaneously steals all the money from an evidence locker before giving it all back, and is caught during the act of returning it. In the fourth season finale, poor Winona seems doomed, as she's found by Raylan, crying, with thugs pointing guns at her. The men threaten to kill Winona and her unborn baby unless Raylan takes them to where Shelby is; Raylan lets one of them punch him though, before turning on two of them. Rather than being the damsel in distress, Winona finds a gun and shoots the third member herself. Can you imagine the strength of someone who can pull themselves together to shoot someone, that soon after being in pieces, crying? She's easily stronger than Raylan at that brief moment in the show. It's a massive surprise, too; we expect Raylan to clear up the mess singlehandedly, but Winona proves her worth in the end. Hell hath no fury like a mother protecting her child, it would seem.
