10 Battlestar Galactica Twists You Never Saw Coming

5. The Adama Manoeuvre

It doesn't much more dramatic than the climactic battle of New Caprica, but even this managed to pull a complete left turn when the Galactica performed an FTL Jump into the actual atmosphere of the planet, plunging to the surface as its Vipers deployed from flaming launch tubes to protect the colonists and resistance fighters. And then, in a flash of blue light it's gone again, FTL Jumping back up into high orbit, there to face destruction at the hands of four Cylon Basestars.

While we knew going into this rescue attempt that this was going to be tense, there wasn't any way to prepare for the sheer audacity of that move. The episode then soars to greater heights when the Battlestar Pegasus enters the fray, its guns thundering to the beat of ferocious war-drums as it rides to Galactica's rescue and its own sacrificial destruction.

Was this a twist, or was it just plain awesome?

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
