8. Hanna
After the success of the film a few years ago, Hanna was bought by Amazon and turned into a series.
It turned out to be a well-drawn out and intricate drama about family and finding one's place in the world, in spite of never really being a part of it to begin with. The show has the tactile feel of a fish out of water but immerses both its lead character and the audience so deep that you feel like her, hanging on for dear life at all times just staying ahead of the enemy.
Led by Esme Creed-Miles, Mireille Enos, and Joel Kinnaman, Hannah displayed a great Bond/Bourne awareness in its tone and action sequences, whilst retaining the fact that Hanna is still just a child when we meet her.
Seeing her grow up in a world of conspiracy and mechanical brutality is where our story is set but her personal relationships with those around her is what sets it apart. Her parental bonds with Erik and later Marissa are what connect Hanna to the audience and make you care about her along this winding journey.
