8. You're Welcome

Few characters in the Buffyverse experienced as much growth as Cordelia Chase. She was introduced as a shallow, selfish high schooler with an aptitude for belittling her peers. But over the course of her time on Buffy and Angel, she would ultimately become a caring, courageous hero, willing to make incredible sacrifices for both her friends and complete strangers.

Sadly, Cordelia's storyline in Season Four was flawed and problematic (all the more so in the wake of Charisma Carpenter's account of her shameful treatment behind the scenes). However, You're Welcome managed to undo a lot of the damage, giving both Cordelia and Charisma Carpenter a beautiful farewell. Arriving in time to save Angel from a re-emergent Lindsey, Cordelia's final episode featured so many brilliant moments for her, whether she was getting sassy with Eve or helping Angel remember who he was.

The revelation that she had never really woken from her coma and had been granted one last day of life by The Powers That Be was a tragic twist, particularly given how much good she'd been able to do with her last chance. You're Welcome wasn't quite perfect - Lindsey's motivation could have been a little more fleshed out - but this was a trivial issue, since Cordelia's story was the true heart of the episode.
