10 Best Animated TV Shows For Adults
7. Bojack Horseman
The most difficult thing about recommending Bojack Horseman to your friends, is that it doesn't get good until midway through the first season. Though often funny, the first six episodes are uneven at best, struggling to find the shows identity. For this period, Bojack attempted to be an irreverent dark comedy, a route many other cartoons took to find critical success. But it just didn't work. Then, half-way through, things changed. The show took on a much darker tone. The result is one of the most depressing, hilarious, and honest shows on television.
Bojack boasts a great cast including, Will Arnett, Allison Brie, Aaron Paul and Amy Sedaris, and a number of brilliant supporting characters voiced by the likes of Patton Oswald (who at some points seems to voice most of the other characters inhabiting Bojack's Los Angeles), Alan Arkin, JK Simmons and Stanley Tucci. All of whom work together to paint an entertaining and critical look at the entertainment industry. That, coupled with a wry sense of humor, and a real sadness not often captured by cartoon characters, makes Bojack Horseman unlike any animated show you've ever seen.
