10 Best Animated TV Shows For Adults
8. The Boondocks
The Boondocks, created by Aaron McGruder, centers on two brothers, Riley and Huey Freeman that move from the inner-city to live with their grandfather in an upper class neighborhood in the suburbs. The resulting clash of cultures is both hilarious and a cutting social commentary.
Since most of the show centers around racial humor and politics it is easy to dismiss it as a "black television show" or a show with an agenda. But a deeper look unveils a complex look ta racial relations in America that is ten times smarter than many give it credit for. It manages to encapsulate the historical, emotional, institutional and cultural aspects of the subject without become one-sided or blunt. It truly is an incredible social critique.
However all the above undersells The Boondocks pure entertainment value since there is no doubt the boys' (and their grandfather's) antics will have you falling off your chair laughing, and staying up way too late for just another episode more.
