10 Best Christmassy Doctor Who Villains
2. The Snowmen
The footsoldiers of the Great Intelligence, these Snowmen existed to menace Victorian London and cause problems for the Doctor and friends in 2012's Christmas special.
With no intention to be built by children, this telepathic snow instead wanted to build an army to conquer Earth. With devilish faces, sharpened icicles for teeth and the ability to appear anywhere, the Great Intelligence's Snowmen were a strangely formidable adversary.
Like the Yeti that the Great Intelligence had designed to battle the Second Doctor, these frigid foes were seemingly unimposing until people saw what they were really capable of. Carnivorous and ready to reduce enemies to shreds with their teeth, these Snowmen gave a new meaning to frostbite.
Created from sentient snow, the Snowmen could be summoned telepathically but, equally, could be melted with a thought. Not strong enough to take over the world themselves, the Great Intelligence instead had plans to construct an army of Ice People.
The Snowmen were finally melted telepathically by the sadness of the Latimer family, who were grieving Clara Oswald's death. This left the Doctor with enough time to foil the Great Intelligence's plot and save Christmas again.
The Intelligence, however, would return to seek revenge on the Doctor - even jumping into his timeline to try and defeat him throughout history. This would be interrupted by another Clara Oswald - a time splinter that the Intelligence hadn't foreseen.
