Stephen Fry's involvement in Doctor Who had been a long time coming.

Not only did he come within a hair's breadth of penning an episode in Series 2 (his script was dropped at the last minute and replaced with Fear Her), but he's Stephen goddamn Fry, an absolute national treasure - how it took until 2020 for him to appear in the show is beyond us.

On the plus side, when he did finally show up, he made the most of the small role he was given.

Fry appears in an extended scene at the start of Spyfall: Part One, where he plays "C" - the head of MI6. Of course, Mr. Fry and his marvellous voice would be the perfect person to head-up our national security, and the actor feels right at home here, reeling off spy-fi jargon and commanding the room with apparent ease.

It's just a shame he was killed off so soon, although his shock death definitely made the character even more memorable than he already was.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
