10 Best Final Seasons In TV History
1. The Americans (Season 6)
This espionage thriller of a show just kept the quality up throughout its entire run, leading to a surprisingly heart-breaking climax in the show's sixth season.
For the first five seasons, fans had watched as Russian spies Philip and Elizabeth Jennings secretly worked as partners to covertly collect information for the Soviet Union under the noses of the FBI. As time went on though, you could see the pair starting to drift apart in their ideology - while the latter remains committed to her cause for equality and peace under a Soviet banner, Philip finds himself starting to question his orders to the point where he decides he wants to pursue a more westernised way of life.
This sets the scene for the final season, in which the couple find themselves at blows over their political ideologies and commitment to the state, while Philip also struggles with the aggressive direction their daughter Paige starts to take with her training.
It all comes to a head with the pair forced to return to Russia, leading to some emotional separations, and ends with the two overlooking Moscow, realising they've gained nothing personally from over two decades of service, and their future looks more uncertain than ever.
