The episode begins with the rehearsal dinner for Ross and Emily's wedding. Monica finds herself mistaken for Ross' mother which only makes her sadness that she's not getting married even worse.
Joey is starting to get homesick for New York, and Ross finds him dealing with his parents' anger over the wedding costs. Chandler takes it upon himself to comfort Monica and, well, the rest is history.
After deciding to declare her love to Ross, Rachel rushes to the airport so fast she forgets her passport. Once she finally gets herself onto the plane she tells the man next to her all about her failed relationship, but doesn't quite get the sympathy she hopes for. Phoebe tries to warn the wedding party about Rachel's arrival but doesn't get through to Joey until the morning of the wedding.
This episode has it all. The craziness of Rachel on her way to tell Ross that she loves him, hoping that he will call off the wedding. We see the first moments after Chandler and Monica spend the night together, and there is of course the drama of Ross at the alter. This is a classic episode and another brilliant cliffhanger season finale.
