10 Best Hannibal Episodes
6. Savoureux
Everything in season one of the show is built around the relationship between Hannibal and Will, and the doctor's manipulation of the latter's fragile mental health. The ability for Hannibal to earn the trust of the BAU's top officials whilst going out and committing the most heinous of crimes is spellbinding on its own, but it comes completely full circle during Savoureux, series one's finale that sees Will framed by the doctor as being the show's copy cat killer.
The entire episode is the ultimate exhibition of the charisma and twist of Hannibal's psyche on both the BAU and Will.
Will spends almost the entire episode on the run from his own mind and the grip of Jack Crawford, who has totally bought into Hannibal's web of lies. It is one of those desolate episodes of television where everything just seems to go wrong for the good guys, but anyone watching just can't help but fall in love at the ways in which Hannibal perfectly manipulates everyone around him.
This is also arguably amongst Hugh Dancy's most impressive performances as Will, swinging from terrified and fragile to a cold-blooded murderer with so much ease. For a series known for its sadistic serial cannibal, it's important to show some love to the troubled good guy too.
