10 Best Netflix Original Horror Series You Need To Watch

6. Ju-On: Origins

Ghoul Netflix
NBC Universal

A prequel series to The Grudge? This should be fun for the whole family.

Ju-On: Origins follows multiple characters over the course of several years as they fall victim to the curse of the house from the legendary J-horror franchise.

Listen, trying to explain the plot of Ju-On: Origins is like trying to explain string theory using an Etch A Sketch. Enigmatic doesn't come close to covering just how confounding this series is. There is a linear plot somewhere within the story, but trying to find it will drive even the most analytical of audience members insane.

While that might sound like a criticism, it's actually the opposite. The show weaponizes its non-linear narrative in a way that adds to the horror of what you see happening on screen. This sense of confusion will make you feel as though you yourself are trapped within the walls of the haunted habitation, wandering its corridors disoriented and alone.

A bit of a trigger warning however as the show does feature some fairly graphic scenes of sexual violence.
