10 Best Netflix Shows Cancelled After One Season
9. Julie And The Phantoms
Created by Kenny Ortega, the man behind High School Musical and Descendants, you’d expect this delightful teenage romp about a girl starting a band with three ghosts to be just the right combination of earnest coming of age story and comedic joy. According to both critics and audiences, it completely nailed it as just that.
Despite earning scores of 93% and 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and being praised for its relentless charm and heartwarming musical moments, Julie and the Phantoms was left dead in the water.
Premiering in September 2020, fans had to wait until the very end of 2021 to learn the show was cancelled. Ortega told People magazine they were hugely disappointed but that Julie will stay in his heart. Fans clearly agreed as they made the #SaveJATP viral and a petition to get a second season off the ground currently sits at 225,000 signatures.
While these shows may not have been for everybody, you have to respect the pull of a single season show to launch a massive petition.
