2. Norman Reedus - Daryl Dixon

This might seem high for everyone's favourite stoic bowman survivalist, given his frequent forays into silence and grunting, but there is much more to Daryl Dixon than his ability to never die and his quiet demeanor.

Norman Reedus is the show's longest serving lead character, and since Daryl's introduction in Season One he has gone through more than nearly anyone. A victim of abuse and a survivor long before the world came to an end, Daryl loses his brother and most of his friends throughout the show's run, and since Season Nine Reedus has had more opportunities than ever to show just how passionate he is with his role.

Take the episodes "Still", "The Cell", "Stalker" and "Chokepoint" as examples of just how much Daryl has grown. With his role massively expanding with each passing season, Reedus seems to be getting better in his performance with every scene he finds himself, and the show is all the better for it.

Once loud, brash and arrogant, he has since turned into a calm, measured and wise leader, and the show's de-facto main character since Rick's tragic departure. Speaking of which...
