10 Best Performances In The Walking Dead

3. Melissa McBride - Carol Peletier

Walking Dead
AMC

One of the show's longest surviving actors, Melissa McBride's performance as Carol Peletier remains one of the show's most pleasant surprises. Completely removed from her comic counterpart, Carol's role on the show has evolved immeasurably over the years. Beginning the show as a abused wife and loving mother, she quickly moves from tragedy to tragedy and has grown, as late as Season Ten, to be one the show's most compelling characters.

Though quite a small character between Seasons One and Three, Season Four opened up the staggering talent of McBride in new and impressive ways thanks to her role in the series-best "The Grove." From there, Carol's homely appearance has been tossed aside, allowing her to become a strong and capable fighter and a passionate and weathered leader.

Without McBride's committed and compassionate performance, Carol may well have suffered the same early days fate as her comic namesake, but thankfully this never came to pass, and from this decision the show has gained one hell of a character.
