5. Rod Torfulson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuk

Rod Torfulson's Armada featuring Herman Menderchuk is arguably the worst garage band in the history of garage bands. It should also go without saying that Rod Torfulson's Armada featuring Herman Menderchuk is one of most awkward garage band names in the history of garage band names.

Kevin McDonald played the lead guitarist of the band. He did 90% of the work including the vast majority of the song writing. At one point, his bandmates Rod, played by McCulloch, and Herman, played by McKinney, forced McDonald's unnamed character to pay them a salary or they were going to quit their terrible band. The irony of this situation was that the lead guitarist was the only person whose name was not in the band's name and not making money off of it.

The guys in Armada were obsessed with making it, despite the fact that it was a virtual impossibility given how bad they were. It's hard to say if it would be funnier to find out that they actually did make it after all these years or that they were still in the garage and on the verge of making it.
