10 Best Single Horror TV Seasons Ever

4. Marianne - Season 1

Many a horror show has been cancelled over the decades, but it's criminal that Netflix opted to pull the plug on Marianne after just one solitary season.

If you watched A&E's Omen-based Damien, you'll understand fully while that dumpster fire of a series wasn't renewed for a second year. But Marianne?! It was utterly baffling to see that show axed after receiving plentiful praise from critics and viewers alike.

A French language series from Samuel Bodin and Quoc Dang Tran, Marianne is the sort of offering that has you uncomfortably wincing after just a few minutes of its first episode. There, audiences were greeted with the sight of Mireille Herbstmeyer's Mrs. Daugeron as she grins maniacally after removing one of her teeth with a knife.

With that, the stage was set in terms of the style and unnerving tone of this Netflix offering. From there, we're soon introduced to the central protagonist of this affair, horror author Emma Larsimon (Victoire Du Bois). While crazy Mrs. Daugeron believes that the characters and tales of Emma's Lizzie Larck are real - and that she herself is Marianne - this story unravels in terrifying, tense fashion as Emma's work really is more than she ever realised.

Chilling, sinister, ridiculously unnerving, Marianne's one and only season is an absolute belter.
