10 Best TV Characters With No Name

7. The Client (The Mandalorian)

Its Always Sunny Waitress
Disney Platform Distribution

The best Star Wars project in years is bolstered in part by a seriously good cast. Pedro Pascal is charismatically stoic in the lead role, but the most exciting (and downright odd) hire is acclaimed German director Werner Herzog as the nameless Client.

The ever-contrary Herzog had no knowledge of Star Wars whatsoever when accepting the part, and his disconnect and general otherworldliness helps to make the Client a delightfully sinister and unpredictable character.

The Client sets the story in motion, sending the titular bounty hunter to retrieve the delightful figure known primarily as Baby Yoda (characters without names are a big part of this show, though the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda are both eventually named). Though primarily a director, Herzog the actor is a real X factor for the show, conveying gravitas and terror through a restrained performance.

He’s used sparingly as a character but he’s a highlight of The Mandalorian’s assured first season, a quiet and even believably sci fi villain the likes of which the Star Wars franchise don’t feature too often.
