Fancy a bit of a break from the world of fiction? Why not dig into a helping of Louis Theroux's Weird Christmas as part of his Weird Weekends series. Released in 1998, Louis gets back in touch with three of his most, shall we say, eccentric characters he had met during the filming of Weird Weekends and gets them together for a Christmas party like no other.

The plot: What do you get when you try to get a porn star, a UFO obsessed reverend and an aspiring folk singer to get along over Christmas? You get TV magic, is the short answer to that. Louis gathers these three lovable misfits together to learn more about them and get their perspectives on the lives of the others. Want to hear what a reverend who believes he can talk to aliens thinks about how a porn star earns his money? You're in the right place.

Why it's awesome: '90s Louis is a lot more whimsical than the serious documentary maker we see now, and the way he masterfully orchestrates this coming together of three people, who couldn't be any different, over Christmas is heartwarming and hilarious.
