10 Best TV Show Cold Opens Ever

Lost was a show full of mystery, so much mystery, that it was often frustrating, as whenever you got an answer, you'd get an additional three questions, like cutting the head off of a hydra. Still, one reveal that deserves a shout out was the second season's first episode, Man of Science, Man of Faith.

Season one of Lost concluded with Jack and Locke staring down the lid of The Hatch, which they had just succeeded in blowing open. To contrast this, the next season showed something else entirely, as viewers saw a man waking up in some strange, claustrophobic space, simply going about his daily routine.

He exercises, showers, and eats while the song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" blares. Quick-witted fans likely noticed soon what was going on, but those who didn't got a shock when there was a sudden burst, and the character jumped into action.

The camera then panned to reveal Jack and Locke looking down, showing that we'd been inside The Hatch this whole time.

This intro bookended the last season's finale so well and showed the contrasting perspective from the new character's eyes, who eventually became a series regular (Desmond). It added just the right amount of answer with intrigue.

What a way to open the second season.
