8. Bloodlines - Season 2, Episode 6
This episode is a great example of how this series successfully pulls off a solid standalone mystery and still have it be a key influence in the overarching narrative.
Bloodlines begins very ominously with two young men working on a time machine in a desolate future. One of these mystery men travels back to the present day and lands on Mount Justice. It becomes apparent that he’s a speedster, and after he gains the trust of the Young Justice team, he reveals his identity. He is none other than Bart Allen - The Flash’s grandson from the future.
The rest sees Bart team up with all the other Flashes to stop a radioactive meta-human from terrorizing the city. While the team wins the fight, Impulse covertly runs a side mission and implants some disarming tech onto the would-be villain.
Impulse turns out to be the other man from the future, who was weaponized against his will. While Bart’s actions diffuse his powers in the future, the world still ends up being a wasteland. The episode also triggers a number of major plot points and it is great to see all the Flash generations work together on screen.
