One of Britain's most loved classical actors, Richard E. Grant has had a surprisingly long association with Doctor Who. First appearing in the Comic Relief adventure Curse Of The Fatal Death, he played a cameo incarnation of the Doctor alongside Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, and Joanna Lumley. He later portrayed yet another incarnation in the web-series Scream Of The Shalka, which despite being overshadowed by the revival of the TV series was still given a DVD release last year. Even though his only canonical appearances as Dr. Walter Simeon/The Great Intelligence wouldn't come until season seven, he had already made a name for himself before his Comic Relief stint had came along. It may only have been his first film credit, but Withnail & I (alongside Eighth Doctor Paul McGann) became a firm fan favourite, and led to roles in Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula and Peter Capaldi's Oscar winning short film, Franz Kafka's It's A Wonderful Life. Other celebrated films include Gosford Park, The Corpse Bride, and The Iron Lady, but it's probably for the best if we don't dwell on his role in Spiceworld.
