10 Biggest TV Disappointments Of 2016

7. The Lame Humour Of Red Dwarf XI

Red Dwarf fans have had a hard time the last two decades. When co-creator Rob Grant left the show after season six the quality took a noticeable dip and subsequent seasons struggled to maintain a baseline of quality.

The seasons since then have a couple of good episodes and lots of iffy ones. Alas, season eleven continued this trend. Officer Rimmer is the only one that felt consistent, thanks to the cast’s commitment and a steady stream of zingers. The other episodes were insanely hit and miss, filled with lame gags and storylines recycled from past seasons. A couple of random jokes might land, but it felt half-hearted.

Despite the advancing years, the cast is still great, but if the show is to continue beyond this point it seriously needs fresh blood in the writing department.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
