10 Biggest TV Disappointments Of 2016

6. The Hellish Boredom Of Damien

Negan The Walking Dead
A&E

The Omen franchise hasn’t had a great time in the last twenty-five years or so. The Omen IV: The Awakening and the remake of the original are so poor Hell itself wouldn’t screen them, and despite being made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise, the TV series Damian isn’t much better.

The show ignores everything but the 1976 movie, with Damian only becoming aware of his apocalyptic destiny when he’s grown-up. It’s easy to see how such an intriguing concept could make for a gripping horror series, but Damien is so ham-fisted and poorly conceived it squanders that potential.

The lead actor has the charisma of a peeled orange, and it lacks the shocking gore or b-movie charm of the original movies. A show about a good man learning he’s literally The Devil should have been awesome; instead, it was canned after one season.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
