3. The Tedium Of The Walking Dead's New Season

Big bad Negan was supposed to energise The Walking Dead, which had devolved into a joyless slog of death and boredom. In the end, all he brought was more death and boredom, with the seventh season scaling new heights in tedium and stall tactics.

Since the already infamous opening episode remarkably little has happened to progress the story, and the show has padded itself out by splitting episodes between characters. This has only served to underline how little plot the show has left, and the only weapons left in its arsenal are gore and shock deaths.

That’s not enough to power it through, which has already affected the ratings. The show has lost around six million viewers since the season began, and unless it figures out a creative direction soon, that spiral looks set to continue.
