10 Biggest TV Disappointments Of 2016

2. The Failure Of Vinyl

Negan The Walking Dead
HBO

So confident were HBO in Vinyl they’re said to have blown around $30 million on the pilot alone, and they renewed it before the first episode even aired. That’s the kind of confidence you get from re-teaming Boardwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter with Martin Scorsese, but this time that confidence was tragically misplaced.

Despite the expensive sets and use of classic rock music, Vinyl fell flat. The story was never gripping and none of the characters was especially likeable. Everything on the show was surface gloss, and when it failed to hook viewers within the first few episodes it became clear a second season wasn’t going to happen after all.

It’s a real shame too because there’s no reason this much talent shouldn’t have been able to make a great show.
