10 Cartoon Extras Who We All Adore
4. Futurama - Mutants
Matt Groening's second hit animated show in many ways exceeds the original that made him so popular. Futurama takes the same humour and style seen in The Simpsons and adds a sci-fi edge to it that gives the writers far more scope to create exciting scenarios and great comedy.
Like The Simpsons, there are plenty of background roles that garner some great attention from fans, and one such example is the collection of mutant residents that live in Old New York.
The narrative following the mutants of Futurama is amusing and heart warming, with the leading role of Leela, eventually discovering that she comes from the same place as these lowly creatures. The world of the underground mutant infested old city is incredibly full of charm, and part of that comes from the sheer array of wild characters it has to offer.
Classics such as arm-ear guy, mouth mutant and leg, give the animators a great chance to generate ridiculous designs and instantly got audiences to fall in love with their wacky aesthetics.
