10 Chilling TV Title Sequences That Will Keep You Up At Night
2. Late Night Horror (1968)
It wasn't just Doctor Who that suffered the BBC cull of the 1970s. This little horror anthology series was wiped too. A lot of what we know about Late Night Horror is shrouded in myth but one thing has surfaced; this title sequence which is so chilling you would never imagine the BBC getting away with it these days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfyJAeVQA0o Everything about the title sequence is unsettling. The anguished woman's face rocking back and forth. The close up on the insect on someone's hand. The hand smothering the woman's face and finally the terrifying moment where it rips off her face and reveals the skull beneath. Even the musical score is enough to send a shiver down your spine. Try watching this alone late at night, the chances are you'll need to sleep with the lights on.
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
