10 Controversies Netflix Wants You To Forget
1. The Goop Lab's Nonsense Science
The Goop Lab is a documentary series that follows Gwyneth Paltrow's bizarre pseudoscience company Goop. The series and Netflix received widespread criticism both upon release of the trailer as well as when the six-episode season premiered on January 24th 2020.
To see the problem with The Goop Lab, you really have to understand what Goop sells, so let's have a mini-list within a list of some of the most well-known things it has promoted and sold over the years.
1) Sold jade eggs that it falsely claimed could improve hormone imbalances when inserted into the vagina.
2) Promoted being stung by bees in order to eliminate old injuries, which directly led to at least one death.
3) Misrepresented the results of a study about breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
4) Promoted vaginal steaming (exactly what it sounds like) for hormone imbalances and cleaning.
As I'm sure you can see, this is dangerous stuff that increases the risk of infections and injury, yet Gwyneth promotes these and other things as alternative wellness products and procedures using little her own questionable anecdotal evidence to justify the premium prices.
And Netflix is now providing another avenue for this mercenary actress to peddle her premium-priced magical thinking.
