10 Controversies That Rocked Game Of Thrones

5. Jumping Ahead Of The Novels

There's another controversy surrounding the differences between Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire, but it's not about what has been cut out. Rather, it's about what has been added in - mainly, things that have yet to happen on the printed page, but have happened on the show.

Of course, a major issue for the TV series is that George R.R. Martin is yet to finish the books, and tends to write at a slow pace. The show is catching up to the novels, and will inevitably pass it. To combat this, Martin has given the producers a rough outline of where things are going, and he has actually written several episodes as well.

However, a big spoiler for the books took place during Season 4 of the show - a character known as the Night's King, a white walker with a crown of horns protruding from his skull, was introduced in the episode Oathkeeper. That's a character that hasn't yet been introduced in the novels, but between the show and an entry on HBO's website, it seems like he will eventually be written in.

That can't sit too well with fans of the books, who have been waiting years for the series to reach its conclusion.
