10 Controversies That Rocked Game Of Thrones

6. Straying From The Books

It was bound to happen, but over the seasons, Game of Thrones has strayed further and further from A Song Of Ice and Fire. In the first season, things were pretty much spot on - the book wasn't all that different, and some scenes were almost line-for-line.

However, as the seasons passed, more and more changes were apparent. Asha Greyjoy, for example, underwent a name change to Yara Greyjoy, to avoid confusion with Osha, the wildling woman who takes care of Bran and Rickon. The House of the Undying, where Daenerys sees visions of her dead husband Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, gave her far more cryptic visions in the novel's version.

And lets not even get into the fate of Catelyn Stark, who does die in the Red Wedding, though her story isn't done just yet in the novels.

When adapting such a huge work, it's nearly impossible not to cut something out, but those cuts will always be controversial.
