8. House Of Fools - Santa's A Racist

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer made their name with a series of anarchic stage shows before TV came calling. The small screen could just about hold them in programmes such as Vic Reeves' Big Night Out and game show Shooting Stars, but surely they'd bitten off more than they could chew with a sitcom.

The potential constraints of the format were no worry for the surreal pair, who shoehorned enough mindboggling content into each half hour to make steam come out of Salvador Dali's ears. And when the BBC handed them their very own festive special there wasn't any let up in the craziness.

Taking the characters on a journey that encompassed breaking into the house of Phil Collins, a bobble hat and a trip underground to meet the reindeer rider himself, the episode made the surprising revelation that Santa held some less than PC views, which he was only too happy to admit to. House Of Fools was cancelled soon after, but that little nugget of Yuletide information must have rocked many a lounge last year.
