10 Creepy TV Characters You ACTUALLY Root For

6. Crazy Eyes (Orange Is The New Black)

From her sinister grin to her explosive and bizarre behaviour, Crazy Eyes was easily one of the scariest inmates at the Litchfield Penitentiary in Orange is the New Black.

She was one of those people that you had to be really careful around, because her sensitivity meant that you never knew what might set her off and make her angry. This was clear right from the infamous "I will cut you!" scene at the start of season one - where a quiet conversation suddenly turned violent - and throughout the show, her erratic behaviour and her actual crazy eyes kept the other inmates on edge whenever she was around.

And yet, the character had a softer side as well, and no matter how violent or psychotic she became, you still got the sense that Crazy Eyes meant well. Even the reason why she ended up in prison to begin with (she brought a young boy back to her apartment to play games, only for him to fall to his death after trying to escape) was simply her just trying to make a friend, and ultimately, that's all the character wanted.

This made all her inappropriate and off-the-wall antics - obsessing over Piper, beating people up for Vee - unorthodox attempts to get people to like her, and at the end of the day, Crazy Eyes was an intelligent and creative person whose mental state and oppressive environment were sending her down the wrong paths. We all wanted to see her do the right thing, because we knew that's what she was always trying to do.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
