10 DC Characters Who Deserve Their Own Show
2. Batman
Batman is another character that has been criminally misused because if you look back to the comics, Batman is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective. He is not supposed to be this grizzled badass who has no qualms with killing people, he’s supposed to be Sherlock Holmes with a killer costume.
Put him in a Jessica Jones-esque detective thriller where you can give him a different case each week but with a larger main plot that culminates in the series finale. The whole world seems to be obsessed with the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne, so why not have that as part of the opening credits? You could have the main baddie be some corrupt executive working within Wayne Enterprises bringing the storyline back around to fit in with Batman's origins.
You’ve also got seasons’ worth of colourful villains and side characters to play with and put modern day twists on. The Gotham TV has already proven that Gotham city looks much better on TV so much so you could make the Batman TV show a spin off from that. You could even age up Ben McKenzie to play Jim Gordon linking this show to the existing Gotham show.
As a side note, if a Batman TV show caught on there's also the popular Batman Beyonds series that picks up with an aged Bruce Wayne training another young man how to be Batman... but in the future. You could set that to screen and easily work in some Lethal Weapon 'I'm too old for this' fun.
