10 Decisions That Have Already Doomed Upcoming TV Shows
4. Recasting Geralt - The Witcher (Season 3)
Though Henry Cavill has already completed shooting the upcoming third season of The Witcher, he made the shock announcement late last year that he won't be returning for season four, with Liam Hemsworth instead being drafted in to replace him.
To say the fanbase was left devastated is an understatement, many feeling that Cavill was Geralt of Rivia, and that it'd be nigh-on impossible for any actor - let alone Hemsworth, no offense to him - to fill those shoes.
And so while fans still have another season of Cavill-starring Witcher goodness to savour, the online sentiment suggests that many won't even bother tuning in.
The depressed sentiment among the fandom, that there's little point continuing on with the knowledge that Cavill will be imminently exiting, makes it damn-near certain that season three's viewing figures will take a major nosedive.
And as for season four, one suspects many won't stick around for more than a single episode, only to satisfy their curiosity about Hemsworth's performance, if they even give him a chance at all.
Netflix were obviously in a tricky bind here, but announcing Cavill's departure before season three had even aired was probably a mistake - one that's poisoned the well in advance of its release.
