10 Doctor Who Bloopers You Need To See

As a family show, Doctor Who is very careful with its use of language. Swearing is a big no-no! In the modern era especially, the Doctor is very vocal about bad language and has been known to call out their companions on occasion.

But of course, the show is made by adults, who will frequently drop swear-bombs behind the camera. When watching various behind-the-scenes reels from the last 60 years of Doctor Who, it can be very odd to see the show's stars out of character, hearing them use adult language.

Even more unexpected though is hearing the monsters swear.

Quite often the monsters in Doctor Who are split into two parts - the performer in the costume or controlling the 'body', and the actor who does the voiceover - and so these bloopers end up being even funnier, knowing that there's been some sort of spontaneous collaboration to make them happen.

A great example is this Classic Who blooper where we see a menacing Dalek take a wrong turn only to find that it has lost its would-be victims, before letting out a quick "Bugger. I've lost them."

Kudos to voice actor Roy Skelton, who took a slight on-set mishap and turned it into comedy gold.

Sometimes you hear my voice, sometimes you see my face and sometimes you read my words! But I’m usually away with the faeries and timelords! ?‍♀️

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
