10 Doctor Who Characters Nobody Wants To See Return

9. The Myrka

The return of the Sea Devils and the Silurians in 1984's Warriors of the Deep should have made for a brilliant serial. Unfortunately, due to time and space constraints (studio space, that is), the story was rushed to the finish line, and it shows.

It's most evident in the character known as the Myrka, a sort of Silurian pet, which truly has to be seen to be believed. The actors inside the costume had no time to rehearse in it, because it was only finished an hour before filming began. Apparently, the damn thing still smelled like paint and glue!

The resulting "performance" has gone down as one of the most cringeworthy moments in Doctor Who history, and is often shown in clips to highlight the shortcomings of classic Who.

Bizarrely, it looked like we were actually going to see the Myrka return in 2022's Legend of the Sea Devils, but the sea monster in that story was never explicitly confirmed as such. Maybe it was just Chris Chibnall's way of paying homage to the Myrka, without fully opening that particular can of worms.
