10 Doctor Who Characters Nobody Wants To See Return
7. The Abzorbaloff
On paper, a character portrayed by a comedy legend fulfilling his dream of being in Doctor Who should have been a match made in heaven. Sadly, the subsequent character quickly turned into a hellish, green, splodgy nightmare.
Originally created by a nine-year-old who had won a competition to design a Doctor Who monster, the Abzorbaloff (played by Peter Kay) was the villain in 2006's Doctor-lite episode Love & Monsters. The story is famous (well, infamous) for being one of the worst in the show's history, with even Kay himself admitting that he regretted it.
Part of the problem with the Abzorbaloff was that, apart from the horrendously clunky design, he seemed to have little-to-no purpose or backstory in order to develop his character. The comedy of the character also feels out of place, when it's clear that attempts were made to make the villain scary.
Thankfully, this discount Slitheen was never seen again after melting into the pavement at the end of the episode, and let's hope that the next monster that comes from a competition gets a little more time in the oven before being farted onto the screen, eh?
