10 Doctor Who Characters Who Came Back From The Dead

5. Clara (Repeatedly During Series 7)

Clara Oswin Oswald, the impossible girl, died several times as different incarnations of herself throughout Series 7. When fans first met her, she was the sole survivor of a downed spaceship on the asylum planet that belonged to the Daleks. As it turned out, she had been turned into a Dalek herself, but refused to believe the truth regarding her conversion. She was eventually killed during the Doctor’s escape.

He met her again during The Snowmen, where she appeared as a barmaid who moonlighted as a governess. She was killed defeating the Great Intelligence before the Doctor realised that she was one of several incarnations of the same person and went in search for some hint as to why he was meeting the same girl over and over again.

The truth, as it turned out, was a complex, timey-wimey web of mystery that was sort-of-almost explained in The Name of the Doctor. It’s best if you don’t think too hard about Clara spreading herself through the Doctor’s time stream and how she then re-emerges from it, though. Your brain will probably tie itself in knots trying to work that one out.
