10 Doctor Who Characters Who Should Have Been Companions

Debuting in The Day of The Doctor, Petronella Osgood was a fan of The Doctor. Sporting a Tom Baker style scarf and a Sylvester McCoy style shirt/jumper combination, Osgood seemed like the perfect candidate to join The Doctor on his adventures.

This dynamic would have been very interesting. Pairing The Doctor with a fan could have led to some interesting developments. Maybe she becomes too close to them, or she learns the lesson to "never meet your heroes." This was something that was explored partially in the controversial episode Love & Monsters, but we never got to see it across a series.

Ingrid Oliver plays the part perfectly. She balances just the right amount of innocence with a small amount of anger and frustration, particularly during the Zygon Invasion/Inversion. Oliver had chemistry with both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi, so there is no doubt she would make for a great addition to the TARDIS. Here's hoping she returns in future episodes of the show, either as a human or a Zygon!
